How to Boost the Speed and Performance of Windows 10?

A proper working and well-managed hardware and software system boost the pace of our work over laptops and computers. However, many of us face issues while working either due to too many files being running in the background, or the hard drive might be running low on space. Although we love the layout and new Windows 10, it has often been criticized by many for its not-so-smooth functioning. Here are a few tactics and ways you can use to speed up windows 10 over your PC.

Do Not Just Wait, Update!

If your system is not working correctly, you might want to check for any pending updates. Microsoft frequently releases new updates for Windows 10. Major updates can bring significant changes to your PC.

You can check for updates by opening the ‘Settings’ menu and clicking on ‘Updates & Security.’ Click on the ‘Windows Update’ option and check for the last updates or any pending ones. In case of any pending updates, you can select troubleshoot and click ‘Run the Troubleshooter.’ Do not forget to restart your system after doing that!

Running Too Many Programs Can Be The Culprit

Computers with Windows 10 may lack the power to hold the burden of running too many programs at once. If your PC is lagging, you must close irrelevant programs that might be running in the background.

You can find applications and their memory use in the Task Manager. Right-click the Taskbar and select ‘Task Manager.’ You can easily find the memory usage of programs. To stop them from running, you can right-click the application and choose ‘end task.’ This will surely speed up windows 10.

You Might Want To Think Of Cleaning Up Your Hard Drive!

Sometimes, a loaded hard disk can slow the working of your PC. Clearing out the hard drive can help in boosting the performance and speed.

To delete temporary files, you can type ‘Disk Cleanup’ in the search box and select it. You can choose the drive you want to clean and the file types to be deleted. Select ‘ok,’ and this will surely do the trick!

Welcomed By Too Many Startup Programs?

Once your startup your windows, you might have noticed a lot of programs being opened automatically. This causes lagging and disrupts the working of the windows. It also takes your PC way too long to startup. This is because you have too many Startup programs running on your PC.

To disable the applications and programs from running automatically, you will have to make a few changes. You can do so by right-clicking on the Taskbar and selecting Task Manager. Open the Startup tab and click on More Details. You can choose the programs which you want to disable from running automatically.

Delete What Is Not In Use!

A lot of applications come preinstalled in Windows 10. Such programs can take up a lot of space and interfere with the smooth functioning of your PC. You might not even realize the prevalence of many system apps installed on your computer.

You can quickly get rid of the programs which are not in use. Select ‘Control Panel’ by typing it in the search bar. Once it opens, click on ‘Programs & Features.’ You can see the programs and apps installed on your system. Select and right-click the irrelevant programs and choose ‘uninstall.’ This way, you can uninstall software that is not in use.

Restarting Can Do The Trick

When the PC is not in use, Windows 10 puts down your system on sleep automatically. And once you start your system, you can see the programs previously started continuing to work. This can slow down the working of your system.

Simply restarting your system can help with the process. Click on the ‘Windows’ button and select the ‘Power’ button. You can either shut down your PC or restart it. Make sure all the running programs on your system are closed.

You can hold the power button on your system until your PC is powered off entirely in case of too much lagging. This can speed up the performance of Windows 10.

Think About The Power Settings

Sometimes not selecting the right channel in the power settings can slow down the performance of Windows 10. There are three power plans on your PC – Power Saver (this will do anything to give you a good battery life), Balanced ( this finds the best way in which performance can be boosted in a better manner), and High Performance (this will take up a fair amount of battery life but give you high performance).

Most of the people select Power Saver as their power plan and end up slowing down the PC, or when Windows 10 keeps freezing randomly. To choose the right power plan, type ‘Control Panel’ in the search box and select it.

Once it opens, select ‘Hardware & Sound’ and open Power options. You can easily change your Power setting by choosing the plan you want and close the Control Panel. If you ever face problems in the smooth functioning of your PC, try out these simple ways, which can help you in boosting the performance and speed up Windows 10.
