Technology has become so thoroughly engrained in our lives that we’re now on a first-name basis with it. How many times do you call for “Siri” or “Alexa” in the average day? Our world is being changed by tech on a constant basis. It’s no surprise that this includes our workplaces, as well. In fact, the office is probably the one place in our lives where the impact of technology is most obvious. So many of our job responsibilities have been enabled or made easier by it that it’s difficult to imagine working without it. But because technology is so deeply embedded in our routines, we may not be aware of how much it effects our productivity.
For example, one of the most important ways tech can improve conditions in the workplace is by giving us greater flexibility. As long as we have a laptop or other connected mobile device and Internet access, many of us have the ability to respond to inquiries and conduct our job virtually anywhere and at any time. This means we can be more productive in our role & responsibilities with no commute time to and from the office.
